Beautiful Skies For Practice, But Race Night Rained Out At Emo

By Anthony Leek – A total of sixteen drivers took advantage of the open practice at the Emo Speedway on May 14th. About 2.5 hours of running the track took place with a showing of all three classes of cars. While the number for the test and tune was about half of a regular night of racing, it gave drivers the chance to shake off the winter cobwebs and get used to be in the hot seat again. There were a couple rookies who took their first laps ever including new WISSOTA Modified driver Derek Brown and new WISSOTA Midwest Modified driver Ethan Firth. Since the track was dry slick most of the evening, they had a handful sometimes on the track. Whatever the case, it was good experience before the real pressure that was to begin on the 21st for the season opener.

Despite beautiful weather all week, a low from the U.S. moved in Saturday morning and proved to be the real winner. With a 100% chance of rain and a light drizzle having already started in the late morning, the races were cancelled at Noon.

Racing will hopefully resume this weekend (May 28th) for the Emo Walleye Classic! Driver Introductions will happen in front of the grandstand before the heat races, and the Best Appearing Car – Fan Judged will also take place through the evening.
